Default BUG FOUND: Double 'Moteh Thundershooter' (Big pictures inside)

I went elite capping last night and I finished getting all my tyrian and canthan ones and moved onto Elona.

The first one I went for was the ele one you cap from Moteh Thundershooter.

I found where he was, and went looking. I got around the corner from him and saw there was 3 Griffins and about 15 Harpies. It seemed a bit excessive, but I went for it.

An hour later, lots of ressing and restarting and hitting my head off the desk and then I realised (while holding down right ctrl to see all the creatures) that there was two Moteh's showing.

Then it clicked that there was two copies of the same mob in that location.

Trying to take out 2 griffins who continue to heal one another, while they heal the harpies and you take dmg from a boss isnt nice.

I was down to -60hp by the time I realised. But I wasnt giving up.

It took most of the night due to the lack of health and mt Heroes being useless.

But I got him in the end.

Anyway, the point being; There is a bug with this boss. Im pretty sure he doesnt have a twin and im sure there was only meant to be one Griffin around him.

"join us this weekend for another exciting double fun event! double bosses! Yes all your favourite brightly coloured bad guys are now flanked by themselves for double the spike and double the death penalty"

Heh does that mean the anti-farming code kicks in quicker if there are two?

Please, seriously. Look at your first picture. It describes the situation 100% perfectly.

It is not a bug. It is a feature. Never miss an elite capture thanks to the new double-the-boss option.

Hi there...

I did a forum search for "double bosses" to see if there were other threads about this --> http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...=double+bosses. Apparently it's happened in Tyria and Cantha both, and it appears another thread about him was started yesterday --> http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...o uble+bosses. There is a link in the other thread to an explanation of the phenom on Guildwiki... and I quote:

"As of the Friday December 8th update, you no longer need to complete the quest Destroy the Harpies for this boss to spawn.
If you completed the Destroy the Harpies quest this boss will double-spawn.
This boss will not spawn if the Destroy the Harpies quest is active.
Retrieved from 'http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Moteh_Thundershooter'"

Nickhimself... would you mind terribly explaining what is so obvious to you in the first picture other than the fact that, as Freekedoutfish says, there are two Motehs and double enemies. I know I'm going to feel like a complete idiot once you point out what I'm not seeing. But what the heck... it won't be the first time.

Thanks!

Nickhimself meant the npc saying "Hey that's cheating!" as a joke. And that thread was started by me, thank you, and Kenji (outside The Marketplace or Kaineng Center) has the same problem. I wonder if the other boss likes to bring his twin brother also, considering the update made it unnessicary to complete the "Destroy the Harpies" quest to encounter two bosses.

I think he's talking about the "Hey, that's cheating!" blurb. If not then I don't know.

The NPC chatter.

It looks like Goren is saying: "Hey, that's cheating!"

I remember double assassin boss outside KC and i was like what the hell. If i remember correctly, it was Kensin Steelblade (or something like that). It was fun aggroing two huge mob with two bosses that won't stop attacking you.

Let me be the 4th to say it: He is talking about Goren saying "Hey, that's cheating!"
..... Uh..

I noticed that aswell while capping(And yay! I just got max tier!). I did the block trick against the wall, so the skree's couldnt walk around me and attack my hench/heroes. Then nuked the hell out of them.

You can seperate the 2 groups

Hi...

Well, if this isn't a forehead slapping moment... m-) I saw that chatter too, and immediately laughed because of the coincidental timing.

I thought, because he used two paragraphs, that Nick was making two different points, and that "NPC Chatter for the f'ing win!" was the second point. I didn't realize it was all one humorous point. I should know better.

Thank you all for your help.

To be the negative guy: If you couldn't handle killing two griffons reconsider your Hero Builds.

Anyway, yea, it is fun to be spiked by two ele bosses.

I restarted it about 3 times, and I eventually took an interupt ranger Hero. It helped to stop the Griffins healing to an extent, but there isnt really alot that changing my hero builds would have done.

Going up against 3 griffins and about 15 Harpies and 2 Ele bosses isnt something you can prepare for.

Or alteast by the time I realised what was going on, I was -60dp, majorly p'd off and I wasnt thinking straight.

I just wanted the things dead to get the flaming elite. I was fuming after an hour of trying. Plus it was about 12 at night and I had work in the morning. I didnt have all night to get it done and I WANTED it done .

This annoyed me too. Ive played through the entire game and not done green drop. The chances are I should have had one from my experience.

And then I go up agains the same boss twice, basically doubling my chances and still nothing.

I didnt think to search to see if it had happened before. I assumed it was a one off incident. A bug like this seems rather major to me, so I assumed it would be something Anet would be aware off and fix.

But thanks for letting me know it hasnt just happened to me. Im glad to know others are going insain from this.

I reported this to the bug part of this forum the other day when i was trying to cap blinding flash. Its tough if both bosses agro but if you somehow magically draw one half of the group from the other and run back to the north res shrine its surprisingly easy.
